This blog is created to shed some light on the way America wants the ideal woman to look. I always examine this through what I read in magazines and books, what I hear when I listen to music, and what I see when I watch television. It always baffles me to see women go to extreme lengths to fit in and to follow the norm that others have deemed appropriate. With this blog, I hope to gain some insight on this popular topic.

I think some music is degrading to women. When I mention this to some of my male friends, they say that artists are not talking to the whole female population, but rather to those who live their lives described the way it is described in the song. I disagree
I agree, darling. I'm tired of hearing about all of those "b*tches and hoes," and for once I would love to hear a song talking about how this guy fell in love with a girl because she's smart and funny...not because she's a good lay.
Well Amanda, I agree with you somewhat. Not all songs are that way, and i think you're over-generalizing a bit by not stating that this "name calling" is only heard in certain genres of music (mainly hip-hop/rap) There are songs out there that do talk about women positively on the other hand.
